Quality time with Luke

This afternoon, Katie and I picked Luke up from school and then went to Starbucks for a snack with our friends, Miss Karen and her sons, Cole (5 years) and Dace (4 years).  Then we headed home and Katie fell asleep.  Once I got her into her bed, Luke and I curled up on the couch for a little quality time while we watched a movie. 

I love having two children but I have to say that it was very nice to have some one-on-one time with Luke.  When Katie is awake, she is right up in the middle of everything (and I wouldn't have it any other way!) but sometimes I think that Luke gets tired of the constant interruptions.  So today we just snuggled on the couch and talked about various things and laughed at the movie.  At one point I asked him if he would mind if I got up to do something and he said yes, he would so I stayed right with him.  There were about 10 things that I needed to get done like fold the clothes, empty the dishwasher, straighten up the house but when I stayed right with him and he told me "I love you, Mommy", my heart melted and all cares and concerns about that "to do" list ceased to exist.  So even though we have about 35 people coming to the house next Saturday for an early Christmas gathering, they will have to understand why my place is not straight out of Coastal Living - quality time with my children takes precedence over everything!!!

By the way, one of the things I wanted to do was look for a picture in my "futility room" and I found it!  So here are all the pictures of Luke and Katie with Santa.  We do not have a picture of Luke in 2007 because the new mom was a little more germ-a-phobic back then!
