Again, I have to start off with an apology for the long absence from posting. Anyway, Luke has been off from school last week and really had a GREAT week! On Tuesday, we went to Space Center Houston and learned lots of cool stuff. Luke tried on a helmet and decided that he needed one but at $50, I said I had a better idea. So we came home and made one instead.
Here's Luke in his flight gear!
On Thursday, he went to work with Andy and he was so excited on Wednesday night that he couldn't sleep. He woke up early Thursday morning and got himself all dressed in his construction worker clothes and was waiting for Andy to get ready so they could leave. He was so precious!!
Then on Friday, it was back to the topic of space as we watched the replica shuttle come in on a barge heading for Space Center Houston.
Luke doesn't realize that this is only a replica so I haven't told him about how Houston got totally screwed in this whole situation. I only hope that by the time he's old enough to get it, we have someone in the White House who believes in the space program and won't squash the dreams of millions of kids who want to be like Buzz Lightyear and fly "to infinity and beyond".
Friday night we watched the fireworks over the space shuttle and Katie really loved that!!! I have some great video that I will post later where you can hear how excited she and Luke are about the beautiful display. On Sunday, we took Luke and Katie to her first Astros game. They both loved it!!!
