The past couple of weeks have been amazing! Our precious Katie Bug is now potty trained! It all started in mid-July when Luke was attending Vacation Bible School (with the Kindergarteners) and Katie was staying in the nursery while I did snacks for the 3-4 year old class. Katie overheard one of the teachers (Karen, who knows Katie pretty well) ask me why Katie wasn't in with the 3 year olds and I said it was because she wasn't 3 yet and wasn't potty trained. Karen said that she could still come because she was certainly capable of everything else and she wouldn't mind her being in a diaper.
The next morning (the last day of VBS), Andy went in to Katie's room to kiss her goodbye and Katie was already awake. She told Andy that she didn't want to wear a diaper that day and went to the potty (which she had been doing but not consistently). I was a little reluctant (since i was going to be the one that would have to clean up any accidents) but I went along with it. Sure enough, she participated in everything the class did and she went THE WHOLE DAY with her big girl Tinker Bell panties on!! We were so proud of her! She had three accidents the next day but that was ok.
Since then, she has been doing great and is even sleeping through the night with no accidents!
The other amazing thing for Katie is that she started preschool yesterday!! She has the same teacher that Luke had when he started three years ago. She walked in to the classroom and said "bye Mom" but I wanted to talk to Miss Hillarie and then she got a little nervous and held onto my leg. After a minute or so, I was able to pry her off and pass her to Miss Hillarie and leave. Luke and I circled back around and saw that she was totally fine two minutes later so we left. When we picker her up, she ran into my arms and said that she had a great day. The teachers agreed that she did really well!
