Happy Birthday, Luke!

Here's the birthday boy in action! Luke started the day with a trip to Shipley's with Dad to get some donut holes. Then we had a trip to the pediatrician for his 4 year checkup. The Dude is now 3'5.5" tall and tips the scales at 38 lbs. Wow! Four years ago today, he debuted at 19.75 inches and 8 lbs.

Anyway, we headed to a nature center where he and Katie did some climbing and some sliding and saw some other neat stuff which was all made out of concrete!  Unk is doing some work out there which is part of why we went in the first place.  Pretty cool!  Here's Katie going down the slide, which is not made of concrete but the structure supporting it is and is done to look like real wood!

And lastly, we have Unk, Luke and Katie with the San Jacinto Monument in the background.  We learned today that there is some debate as to which monument is taller, the San Jacinto or the Washington.  Well, Mr. Rex from the nature center informed us that it depends on where you start your measurement, on the ground (the San Jacinto is on a slight hill) or at the base of the monument itself.  Well, the website for the Washington says that it measures just over 555 feet and the San Jacinto comes in at 570 feet.  I have not been to the Washington but I have been to the San Jacinto and I can tell you that it is NOT on a 15 foot hill!

After a good lunch at McDonald's with Unk (Luke got to choose!), we came home for naps.  We've had several phone calls, e-mails and texts for happy birthday wishes as well as two renditions of the birthday song from Grandma Sharon's kids at school and and are now eagerly awaiting Dad's arrival so birthday festivities can continue.
