Well, yesterday Marlina and I went to the lot to see the progress. We dropped the kids off at my parents house and headed for Clear Lake Shores. Much to our surprise, we have a floor/roof. We have a roof for the garage, which is also the floor to the main living area. Or at least the decking was installed. There are no stairs yet, so Marlina and I climbed up the skinny ladder and shimmied up on top of the decking.
What a site! It is one thing to stand in the front yard envisioning the house, but it is quite another thing to stand in what will be the living room and look out upon the neighborhood. The garage has 12 foot tall walls, so the house will be sitting very high. This was the first time we saw the view from our bedroom, from the living room, from the study.
We stood there in silence looking out, both of us picturing our family growing up with this same view.
